Summary: The Boston Planning & Development Agency (BPDA) recently approved the $1.46 billion redevelopment of Bunker Hill, the largest public housing development in the City of Boston.
The current 26-acre site is bounded by Medford, Decatur, Vine, Bunker Hill and Polk Streets in the Charlestown neighborhood of Boston. The existing project is owned by the Boston Housing Authority (BHA) and includes 1,100 federally subsidized residential rental units in forty-one (41) buildings. The site also includes a management office, courtyards, playgrounds, basketball courts, and off-street vehicle parking areas.
The planned redevelopment includes the phased demolition of the existing structures and the construction of a multi-phase, mixed-income, mixed-use development comprised of up to 2,699 residential units in 15 new residential buildings. Additional features include:
